

Born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, third-generation violinmaker Leo Maglia was born into a lineage of violinmakers, artisans and craftsmen. Music was always a very important part of his life. He has studied violoncello and viola da gamba.
Throughout and after his studies at the «Scuola internazionale di liuteria di Parma» he worked in the familiy workshop «Rast-Violins in Zurich under the tutelage of his uncles, master violinmakers Felix Rast and Kaspar Rast.
He is deeply inspired in his making by the masters of the Emilian and Bolognese tradition in the 19th and 20th century. His instruments respresent a generation-spanning dedication and research to luthery.
